Appeal for Humanitarian Aid for Victims of Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar

Singapore - 7 May 2008

Dear brother and sisters in dharma,

We are appealing to you for donations of dried food items, clothing, tents, plastic tarpaulin, mosquito nets, water purifying tablets, water decontamination sets, cooking sets, eating utensils, medical supplies for emergency care and medication to prevent outbreaks of cholera and malaria. You are more than welcome to contribute other needful items than those listed above. Monetary donations are also welcomed as they will be used for buying other necessities for the victims in Myanmar.

As you would have already read the news that Cyclone Nargis has left a trail of destruction in Myanmar. As of today, the death toll has risen to 22,500 with an estimated 41,000 people missing. Some one million people have lost their homes and the death toll is expected to rise as many more people will perish in the aftermath from scarcity of food, lack of shelter, clean water and medical care for the already physically drained survivors. We will be sending our first container load of relief supplies at the end of this week and we hope that more supplies can be sent over the next two weeks.

Please help us to help the people in Myanmar survive this with your generous donations.
Your donations-in-kind can be sent to our centre and for bulky items, we would appreciate if you could deliver them to Block 53, #01-56, Paya Ubi Industrial Park, Ubi Avenue 1. For delivery arrangements, please contact us at telephone number 68441987. If you have any further enquiries, please send it to mftcnargis@gmail.com.
