Everyday should be a special day - unknown source

A man open his wife's underwear drawer and picked up a silk paper wrapped package:

'This, - he said - isn't any ordinary package.'

He opened the box and stared at both the silk paper and the box.

'She got this the first time we went to New York, 8 or 9 years ago. She has never put it on, was saving it for a special occasion. Well, I guess this is it. He got near the bed and placed the gift box next to the other clothing he was taking to the funeral house, his wife had just died. He turned to me and said:

'Never save something for a special occasion. Every day in your life is a special occasion'.

I still think those words changed my life.

Now I read more and clean less.

I sit on the porch without worrying about anything.

I spend more time with my family, and less at work.

I understood that life should be a source of experience to be lived up to, not survived through. I no longer keep anything. I use crystal glasses every day... I'll wear new clothes to go to the supermarket, if I feel like it.

I don't save my special perfume for special occasions; I use it whenever I want to. The words 'Someday...' and 'One Day...' are fading away from my dictionary. If it's worth seeing, listening or doing, I want to see, listen or do it now. I don't know what my friend's wife would have done if she knew she wouldn't be there the next morning, this nobody can tell. I think she might have called her relatives and closest friends. She might call old friends to make peace over past quarrels. I'd like to think she would go out for Chinese, her favorite food. It's these small things that I would regret not doing, if I knew my time had come.

I would regret it, because I would no longer see the friends I would meet, letters... that I wanted to write

'One of these days'.

I would regret and feel sad, because I didn't say to my brother and sisters, son and daughters, not times enough at least, how much

I love them.

Now, I try not to delay, postpone or keep anything that could bring laughter and joy into our lives.. And, on each morning, I say to myself that this could be a special day..

Each day, each hour, each minute, is special.

Quote of the Week - unknown source

“If you must make a mistake,
Make a new one each time.”

Proof that Men Have Better Friends

Friendship between Women:
A woman didn't come home one night. The next morning she told her husband that she had slept over at a friend's house. The man called his wife's 10 best friends. None of them knew anything about it.

Friendship between Men:
A man didn't come home one night. The next morning he told his wife that he had slept over at a friend's house. The woman called her husband's 10 best friends, eight of whom confirmed that he had slept over, and two said that he was still there.

Appeal for Humanitarian Aid for Victims of Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar

Singapore - 7 May 2008

Dear brother and sisters in dharma,

We are appealing to you for donations of dried food items, clothing, tents, plastic tarpaulin, mosquito nets, water purifying tablets, water decontamination sets, cooking sets, eating utensils, medical supplies for emergency care and medication to prevent outbreaks of cholera and malaria. You are more than welcome to contribute other needful items than those listed above. Monetary donations are also welcomed as they will be used for buying other necessities for the victims in Myanmar.

As you would have already read the news that Cyclone Nargis has left a trail of destruction in Myanmar. As of today, the death toll has risen to 22,500 with an estimated 41,000 people missing. Some one million people have lost their homes and the death toll is expected to rise as many more people will perish in the aftermath from scarcity of food, lack of shelter, clean water and medical care for the already physically drained survivors. We will be sending our first container load of relief supplies at the end of this week and we hope that more supplies can be sent over the next two weeks.

Please help us to help the people in Myanmar survive this with your generous donations.
Your donations-in-kind can be sent to our centre and for bulky items, we would appreciate if you could deliver them to Block 53, #01-56, Paya Ubi Industrial Park, Ubi Avenue 1. For delivery arrangements, please contact us at telephone number 68441987. If you have any further enquiries, please send it to mftcnargis@gmail.com.

A wife for sale

I have a wife who wears many hat, her full time job is a house maker.
So she is also a child care teacher of my 3 kids, a nurse, a domestic worker who works from 6am or so to everyone is asleep, my soul partner and my physical partner too.

I have always though my primary role in the family is the most important….. to bring in $$ for EVERYone….. until this day…….28 April 08….

After our BBQ session and the Sand Castle making under the HOT……. evening Sun…. the value of HOUSE MAKER found a value…..

On Monday 29 April morning… real early that day…. I could not make out the time as I was really fast asleep……..2am, 3am or 1am… can not tell, my wife found out Max, my 2nd kids, have a fever…. Real high… about 38 plus degree… She started her nursing skills from that day for the next days…. Is actually 9 days and maybe more…….

Max’s fever was high and yoyo for 7 days…. Reach the high of 39 degree at one time. When he finally recovered today…. He had gone into fits once, see a doctor 2 times…. and had been his temperature monitor by his mum for at least 200 times. At least half if not more at night…. When I am still asleep…..

This is not all, my turn starts on Friday 2 May 08. Same kind of fever, same kind of pain and the same ‘nurse’ taking care of us. My record high was 39.5 degree and I was telling my wife, I broke Max record.

In the meantime, Attila (1st kid) felt sick with the same fever on Saturday 3 May 08, She went into fits on Sunday 4 May 08 in the vehicle on the way to see a GP. Her record high was 39.9 degree……

Dexter (3rd kid) also had fever on one of the day but because his is come fast and leave fast type…..

During one night when the four of us were having fever,…. my wife had to order everyone to sleep in the living room so that she could see all of us… I ask her this question…. ‘What did you eat differently, how come we all get sick and you still ok’……
Her answer was…. ‘When you all get well, I will fall sick… but before that… I will not allow myself to……..

Oh… forget to mention the selling price…..
PRICELESS…….
Anyone still keen….

Happy Mother's Day....
